First contact with the underwater world. Buoyancy, gas management, buddy protocol, and the muscle memory of a controlled descent. We do not rush this — the ocean is unforgiving of weak fundamentals.
Navigation, deep protocol, night, wreck exterior, drift. Five specialty modules delivered as one integrated syllabus — not five stamps. Prerequisite: 25 logged dives post-Open Water.
Twinset configuration, stage handling, gas planning, lift-bag deployment, lost-gas protocols. The mental shift from recreational to technical — every drill until it is unthinking.
Helitrox, normoxic trimix, hypoxic mix. CNS tracking, OTU accounting, deco planning on multi-platform software. Four open-water dives, two of them drift deco in the Gulf Stream.

Bailout strategy, multi-stage carrying, support diver coordination, surface-supplied O2 deco, heliox. By invitation only. Three liveaboard days in the Tongue of the Ocean plus a 95m project dive.
A three-month residency. Shadow every level, lead briefings, run the compressor room, service units, file dive logs. We hire two of every ten who complete it. The path into the school, if you want it.
International Training began in 1994 and has grown into a worldwide family of diver-training agencies. SDI provides a pathway through recreational scuba, while TDI focuses on technical disciplines including nitrox, rebreathers, mixed gas and overhead environments.
A custom dive boat, not a converted fishing hull. Twin 380 HP Volvos, a heated rebreather bench, on-board O2 booster and He recovery system, side-mount tank racks for eight, and a hydraulic lift platform at the stern for disabled divers. We can be on the Spiegel Grove in 22 minutes from the dock.
Combined: 28,400 dives, 14 international certification agencies, 312 CCR unit builds, 9 cave systems mapped. Hover any card — the back lists the certifications, signature classes, and how many divers they have personally signed off.

"I came in afraid of overhead environments. Eight days later I ran a primary reel through Devils Eye spring without my instructor in the water. That's what this school does — it removes the fear, leaves the respect.
"The Descent was tied off above the Heian Maru at 04:40. Two penetration lines, an O2 stage left at 21m, and a 38-minute bottom time inside. Marcus waited at 30m. I exited on schedule and on gas. That is the only metric that matters.
"My open-water check-out dive was a tiger shark dive. The instructor told me afterward it was deliberate — that I needed to learn that the ocean is not a pool. I have 200 dives since then. None of them have been boring.
"Four and a half meters deep, but 38 minutes of bottom time in two-degree water under the Silfra crack. David made me do drysuit certification first, then ice, then this. The school does not skip steps — and that's why I am still diving.
"Ninety-five minutes at 38m on a JJ-CCR photographing pygmy seahorses. No bubbles, no fish flee. The CCR Mod 1 course was the hardest thing I have ever done — eight days, sixty hours on the unit. I would do it again next week.
"The first night dive I ran solo was off Kona with fourteen mantas. Sophie made me do four supervised night dives before she signed the card. By the fourth I had stopped checking my gauge every sixty seconds. That is the entire job.
"My first trimix bounce — 78 meters in the Gulf Stream, drift deco for 47 minutes afterward. David and Elena on either side, a stage of 50% at 21m, pure O2 at 6m. I cleared my ears at 70m and felt nothing but clear thinking. That is the helium.
"The rescue course is when I stopped being a tourist. Bringing an unconscious diver from 6m to the surface, getting them on the boat, running O2 — it took me four pool sessions before I could do it without thinking. That is the point.
"The current picked up as we cleared the wall. Instead of fighting it, I held position, watched my team, and let the reef move past us. Drift training turned what used to feel chaotic into a controlled dive.
"Sidemount stopped being equipment and became a way of moving. The cylinders disappeared against my body, the restrictions opened up, and every valve was exactly where my hands expected it to be.
"At 46 meters the wreck was only a silhouette until we crossed the thermocline. The plan, the gas switches, and the ascent all happened exactly as briefed. That discipline gave us room to actually see the ship.
"I used to chase every photograph. Ash taught me to settle, control the breath, and wait for the frame to arrive. My images improved because my diving improved first—not the other way around.
A half-day trial dive for divers with no prior certification. Pool session first, then a shallow reef dive to 6 meters with a 1:1 instructor ratio. All gear, boat fees, and post-dive debrief included. If you sign up for Open Water within 30 days, the trial fee is credited against tuition.
